Trust what you have

Our behaviour is a result of our intention. If I ask most players what their intention before a shot is, their response is “to hit the ball.” What is it then we try to do during a practice swing? What is the difference between the practice and resulting swing?

During the practice swing, we focus on the swing of the club itself but when there is a ball in front of the club head, our intention is to hit the ball. Different intention means a different swing.

Take your stand at the ball with two different intentions. For the first shot, concentrate on hitting the ball. For the second shot, focus on a smooth relaxed swing. Focus on changes in sensations in your body, swing dynamics and the object of your attention.

The best possible intention is to trust your swing. The best reason to play golf is to enjoy the game. Think about it next time you are on the golf course and I can guarantee that your swings will be more relaxed and you will not only be successful, but also enjoy your golf game more than ever.
